Veroparatiiseista

Viime viikolla Brysselin keskusta valmisteli kannaripohjan, se hyväksyttiin lähetettäväksi edelleen ELDR:n puoluekokoukseen Dubliniin. Pohjan kirjoitti BryKen johtokunnan jäsen Pekka Eskola.

The European Liberal Democratic Party;

Notes that
  • most EU countries are increasing their tax rates and removing tax exemptions because of the economic crisis,
  • tax evasion and tax fraud are decreasing the capacity of Member States to increase revenues,
  • the European Commission's Communication published in June 2012 estimated the size of the shadow economy in the EU of nearly one fifth of GDP, representing €2 trillion in total,
  • trillions of euro have been hidden in tax havens; the global elite is hiding up to $32 trillion in assets in offshore tax havens according to the report published by the Tax Justice Network in July 2012

Calls for

  • the EU and Member States to tackle tax evasion, tax fraud, tax havens, and corruption,
  • more effective tax collection in Member States and better cross-border cooperation between EU tax administrations,
  • strong and wide transparency and country-by-country reporting directives to be approved as soon as possible and to be fully implemented in Member States,
  • Member States to require in G8 and and G20 meetings effective international cooperation and legislation to tackle tax evasion, tax fraud, tax havens, and corruption,
  • stronger money laundering directive

ELDR:n puoluekokous 8.-10. marraskuuta, Dublin.
